Hideyuki Nakanishi is an associate professor in Department of Adaptive Machine Systems, Osaka University. He received B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in computer science, and a Ph.D. degree in informatics from Kyoto University in 1996, 1998 and 2001 respectively. He was a research fellow of JSPS from 1998 to 2000. He was a visiting researcher under Clifford Nass in Department of Communication, Stanford University in 2000. And also he was a visiting researcher under Gregory Abowd in College of Computing, Georgia Institute of Technology in 2005. His research interests are in the intersection of human-computer interaction and multi-agent systems. His research has focused on virtual social interaction including virtual casual meetings, agent-mediated communities, and transcendent communication. He developed a social interaction platform called FreeWalk in Digital City Project led by Toru Ishida.
